Story

I am raising money for the Udzungwa Forest Project that I started in Tanzania in 2007 (http://www.justgiving.com/teams/ufp). We are kicking things off with the ten mile Ryedale Run in North Yorkshire. This will be the second time I will have run ten miles. The first time I ran this far I was hurting for days!

The money will be used for the conservation of forests, through ecological monitoring and helping villages with sustainable living. This year we are looking to buy some key resources for the project such as equipment to plant trees, teaching materials for schools and machines to make fuel briquettes from farm waste. We are also working with the inventors at Electric Pedals to get educational cinema (powered by a bicycle!), to areas without electricity.

We would be grateful for anything that you can give. A little really goes a long way in Tanzania.

About the charity

African Rainforest Trust (ART) is dedicated to conserving Tanzania's Eastern Arc rainforest through local forest management and grassroots community conservation.
