Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This September I'll be putting my running shoes away and trying a different form of extreme physical abuse. Along with 20 equally insane Camelot colleagues, I'll be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats as part of the Deloitte Ride Across Britain event.
We will be riding the whole length of Britain - nearly 1,000 miles over 9 days. On top of the heavy mileage each day, there are also the hills - we'll be ascending nearly 50,000 feet over the event, which is the equivalent of going over both Mount Everest and Mont Blanc en route. As you do.
This challenge is just one of many events this autumn to celebrate 25 years of The National Lottery (albeit the others don't sound nearly as painful). Along the way we will be stopping to visit just a few of the half million different lottery funded projects up and down the country, along with popping in to some of the retailers who have sold the tickets to make the many millionaires we've created over the years (over 5,000 since you're asking...).
Did you know that The National Lottery raises around £30 Million each week for good causes? Since the very start of The National Lottery 25 years ago, OVER £40 BILLION has been raised for a range of great projects. Have a look at what good causes are funded near you - www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/projects
On top of the 25th celebrations, we're also looking to raise money for some very worthy charities. In my case I'd like to support Peace Hospice Care, a local charity that offers incredible care and support for people and their families across Hertfordshire facing terminal illnesses. Please dig deep and give generously.
