The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust supports the Neonatal Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham. The charity fundraises in order to buy the highly specialised and sophisticated equipment needed to care for sick and premature babies and we look after approximately 1000 babies a year.

Story

My Son Oliver (Olly) was born at Medway Maritime Hospital at 33 weeks, 7 weeks premature. He didnt have any complications but as he was a bit on the small he needed a little helping hand maintaining his temperature and establishing feeding. He spent a week in special care of the neonatal nurses in Oliver Fisher Unit.
The whole family can not express our thanks and gratitude at the care, love, support, help and advice we were given during the time spent in the unit. Olly is mine and Emma's first child, so on top of the worry about him being premature we were also new to everything.

The neonatal nurses were amazing, explaining everything and demonstrating how the do his cares while he was in an incubator. Olly then spent a further week in transitional care on the baby unit of pearl ward who were fantastic too, all in all, the care received turned what could have been a very distressing time into an amazing experience.
With all this in mind, we wanted to do something to say thank you and help Oliver Fisher Trust.....so Emma Poad (mum), Andy Poad (dad) Alex Mabb (Uncle), Sam Mayo (Uncle) and Lisa Draper (Friend of the Family) have all signed up to the London Bupa 10k run in May (27th May 2013).

Our aim to raise over £800 for Oliver Fisher Trust.
