Sponsored Head Shave

Sponsored Head Shave · 26 August 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Way back in 1987, when I was just 16, I had an injury playing school sport - despite various courses of physiotherapy and medication, this injury refused to heal right through the duration of my O levels. When I came home for the summer holidays, I visited my GP and several referrals later, I found myself at the wonderful Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham. They diagnosed me with a very rare and aggressive form of bone tumour - called a Ewing's Sarcoma - in my right thigh. My tumour was already large, and was growing at a rapid rate. Immediate intense chemotherapy was required; this continued for 16 months, and I also had a prosthetic bone replacement. I was incredibly fortunate - I am still here 30 years later, with a beautiful wife, wonderful children, and both legs!!
Many others have not been so fortunate, and so to mark the 30 years of the start of my road to recovery, myself, my son Alex, and hopefully some mates are going to go bald...... The head shave is planned at The New Inn, Stapenhill, Burton on Trent on Saturday 26th August 2017 - if anyone else wants to join in, come along if you can!
Please donate if you are able to do so - cancer is such a horrible and devastating disease; Cancer Research UK do invaluable work and hopefully anything that we can raise will go towards saving someone - just like they saved me.
