<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">This story began with me wanting to go on a safari adventure in either Tanzania or Kenya to experience true wildlife.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I soon discovered that between these two countries lies Mount Kilimanjaro – my instant thought was “I gotta do it.”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The trip is all booked for July this year and so the training and mass travel vaccinations have begun!</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">During my wildlife safari I hope to see many of the magnificent animals in the wilderness of Eastern Africa and from this experience gain many lasting memories.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Sadly a lot of these animals, and thousands of others around the world, are found on rare and endangered species lists.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For example, 60 years ago there were approximately 100,000 tigers roaming the wild in Asia.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Today there are fewer than 2,500 in the wild and in this short time 3 species of tiger have become extinct.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The thought of anymore animals becoming extinct is awful.</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">To help reverse these shocking statistics so future generations have the opportunity to experience these wonderful animals in the wild, I have decided that for my challenging 5895m climb (…and fight against altitude sickness!) up Mount Kilimanjaro I’d like to raise money for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">DSWF is an adaptable and flexible, non-bureaucratic organisation responding promptly to conservation threats by supporting trusted, reputable individuals and organisations operating in the field. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Lean on administration but generous on funding, DSWF supports a range of innovative, vital and far-reaching projects throughout Africa and Asia, achieving real results for wildlife survival.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>David Shepherd is known internationally as an artist and ambassador for wildlife. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Since 1960, with the help of supporters across the world, the DSWF has given away over £4million in grants to save critically endangered mammals in their wild habitat and benefit the local people who share their environment.</span></span></p>
