Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

This story began with me wanting to go on a safari adventure in either Tanzania or Kenya to experience true wildlife.  I soon discovered that between these two countries lies Mount Kilimanjaro – my instant thought was “I gotta do it.”  The trip is all booked for July this year and so the training and mass travel vaccinations have begun!

During my wildlife safari I hope to see many of the magnificent animals in the wilderness of Eastern Africa and from this experience gain many lasting memories.  Sadly a lot of these animals, and thousands of others around the world, are found on rare and endangered species lists.  For example, 60 years ago there were approximately 100,000 tigers roaming the wild in Asia.  Today there are fewer than 2,500 in the wild and in this short time 3 species of tiger have become extinct.  The thought of anymore animals becoming extinct is awful.

To help reverse these shocking statistics so future generations have the opportunity to experience these wonderful animals in the wild, I have decided that for my challenging 5895m climb (…and fight against altitude sickness!) up Mount Kilimanjaro I’d like to raise money for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.

DSWF is an adaptable and flexible, non-bureaucratic organisation responding promptly to conservation threats by supporting trusted, reputable individuals and organisations operating in the field.  Lean on administration but generous on funding, DSWF supports a range of innovative, vital and far-reaching projects throughout Africa and Asia, achieving real results for wildlife survival.  David Shepherd is known internationally as an artist and ambassador for wildlife.  Since 1960, with the help of supporters across the world, the DSWF has given away over £4million in grants to save critically endangered mammals in their wild habitat and benefit the local people who share their environment.

Please give what you can to support this fantastic charity and its vital work.

I’m sure the more money we raise together will help me endure every obstacle this climb will throw at me along the way!

Thank you!
