Hi All,
As you are aware Deb has had varying treatments in her fight against cancer.
A particularly stubborn tumor in her liver has resisted a 2nd course of chemo and is inoperable due to it's proximity to 2 major blood vessels running to the heart.
Things appeared grim, until we heard about a new radiotherapy treatment called "Cyberknife". This can target inoperable or difficult to reach tumours, due to it's pinpoint precision, so enabling it to give a concentrated dose to the site without damaging surrounding areas , as with conventional radiotherapy.
So we were delighted to find out that Barts Hospital were opening a Cyberknife Dept in July 2011, and that Deb would be recommended for treatment.
Unfortuneately local NHS Primary Care Trusts rarely fund this.
We were lucky that BUPA funded it for her, but other patients aren't so lucky that don't have private health.
It's these people we would like to help , who will otherwise go untreated.
I am running the London Marathon next year to raise funds for this.
Most of you know what happened last time!
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Andy, Lush, Fuzz or whatever else you know me as!
