Dear friend

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Next March I am going trekking in the Himalayas with a bunch of wicked women to raise money to support the work of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood(WRA). This charity works to provide basic health care for mothers and babies around the world to stop one mother a minute dying because they are giving birth.

Please take a few minutes to watch the video on this page to find out more and see just how desperately important this work is.

As a mother of 5 beautiful girls I know firsthand the value of health care during pregnancy and birth - I would have been just one more dead mother if I had not had hospital care during complications in my 4th pregnancy.

On a personal note, I want to do this trek to celebrate surviving breast cancer last year. Although I never thought I was going to die, the reality of what might happen in the future and how my daughters would manage was hammered home to me regularly as I listened to them living their lives but feeling too ill to take any real part. One of the hardest parts of the whole experience was having to accept other people mothering my children - although I will be eternally grateful to my mum, sister and friends who did such an excellent job of doing so.

I'm lucky. I have made a full recovery and intend to be around for my girls for a long time to come, but I want to do something to help prevent other mothers from not being around to mother their children - Hence the trek.

Please dig deep and support this very worthwhile cause.
Love to you all
Angela x

Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
