2010 Kilomathon (England) · 14 March 2010 ·

NPUK is dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of people affected by Niemann-Pick diseases and their families. Our vision is a world where those affected can meaningfully participate in society, reach their full potential and achieve the best possible quality of life.

Story

I have decided to attempt to run the world's first kilomathon  (16.3 miles) on March 14th between Nottingham and Derby. I haven't run for a few years now, so this will definitely challenge me.

The reason for this decision was to support my very good friends who have a gorgeous little boy diagnosed with Niemann- Pick disease. This is a very rare genetic disease of which there is no cure and little awareness within the UK.

I want to do something to show my support to a wonderful charity and at the same time raise awareness. The family have such a positive outlook on life and Emma, my very dear friend, is a wonderful mother to her son Edward  and inspires me to be as positve in my contribution, to help her and similar families to cope.
