Angela was diagnosed with ALK Positive Lung Cancer back in August.  She fought hard and kept the constant belief that in the 21st Century there must be something out there to help her. Unfortunately this time it was not meant to be, Angela lost her fight on Christmas eve and passed away at home with her family around her. 

Angela's family asked me to set up these pages for people to be able to donate to these two charities in Angela's memory rather than sending flowers.  

The first charity is the ALK Positive UK. ALK Positive lung cancer is a relatively rare form of lung cancer caused by the abnormal rearrangement of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase gene. The vast majority of patients are non-smokers, half are under 50 years of age when diagnosed, some are much younger, and the majority are female. They provide a platform where patients and their families can exchange information about their diagnosis and treatment; and where they can give and receive mutual support.​​ They are a source of information for patients so that they are better informed about their condition and, as informed patients, they are empowered to ensure that their health care providers employ best practice and advocate on behalf of ALK positive patients to ensure that they receive a high level of care wherever they live in the UK. Hopefully by supporting this charity they can continue to help and support people like Angela who receive a diagnosis like hers.

The second charity is one that looks after horses, which were so close to Angela's heart.  Cecil's Horse Sanctuary is a small horse and pony sanctuary based in Hertfordshire. They offer a loving permanent home to horses and ponies who are old, abandoned, neglected, abused or unwanted (horses and ponies who had nowhere else to go and, in most cases, would have been euthanized). The sanctuary relies entirely on donations, events, open days and the hard work of the founder and volunteers.  They receive no government funding – their ability to rescue animals and offer a secure and safe life for them, is dependent on fundraising.

Please give what you can to either or both of these charities in memory of such a wonderful, daughter, sister, auntie and friend! To us she was someone special, someone set apart, her memory will live forever, engraved within our hearts.
