Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well I can't believe it's over! Four months of hard training in severe weather conditions, crossing the finish line made it all worth it.

It was an unbelievably amazing day a little warmer than I liked but I just can't describe in words the emotions and amazing atmosphere of the whole experience. Suffering a little today stiff legs and a couple of blisters but nothing really to complain about compared to what Myositis sufferers have to put up with. Am so proud to have supported this charity and glad to have met everyone involved and hope that with the donations we can make a difference.

I am raising money for the Myositis Support Group.

Myositis is a general term used to describe a number of inflammatory myopathies:

dermatomyositis, inclusion-body myositis, juvenile forms of myositis, Polymyositis

These diseases cause swelling and loss of muscle and are thought to be autoimmune diseases, meaning the body's immune system is misdirected and attacks the body's own normal, healthy tissue. Each type is different and can cause muscle weakness and pain, general tiredness and fatigue, trouble climbing stairs, standing from a seated position or reaching up or difficulty swallowing. In rare cases death can occur.

The Myositis Support Group was formed in 1985 by Les and Irene Oakley after their daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis at the age of 6. The charity now supports adults and children with all forms of Myositis. Funds are urgently needed to continue the research projects sponsored by the support group.

With thanks and appreciation
