Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September, I am taking on a fundraising challenge to conquer one of Europe's hidden gems, Romania, by taking on the Transylvanian Alps Adventure. A mentally and physically challenge that will take me on a 6 day trek reaching peaks of 2400m.

I'm doing this to raise money for UNICEF in aid of supporting vulnerable children in Bangladesh, Bolivia, Malawi and Mauritania and I would love you to support me. The company I'm working for, Kantar, has a partnership with UNICEF through the Brighter Futures Program with aim to raise money for the following programs:

- Bangladesh: Strengthening community-based child protection to tackle child labour.  In Bangladesh, almost 1 million children aged between 10 – 14 are forced to work, often in hazardous conditions, to support their families. This year, Kantar’s fundraising for Bangladesh aims to provide 3,000 children with the support they need to allow them to go to school instead of work.

- Malawi: Protecting and supporting vulnerable children through the Children’s Corners initiative. Malawi is one of the countries highly affected by the HIV and AIDS pandemic. Over one million children have been orphaned and made vulnerable. Funds raised by Kantar employees will ensure 3,500 vulnerable children have access to psychosocial support through the creation of 50 community centres, known as Children’s Corners.

- Bolivia: Tackling the issue of violence against children and adolescents, and advancing the child rights agenda. In Bolivia, almost 3.5 million children and adolescents are victims of violence, including psychological abuse and physical harm. Kantar funds contribute to the programmes which protect children against exploitation by improving their legislative rights and creating special support units for victims.

- Vaccination: Improving child health by vaccinating against preventable diseases. Globally, pneumonia and diarrhoea are the two leading killers of children under five. Together, they result in the loss of two million young lives each year. Kantar fundraising will go towards a vaccination programme in Mauritania, as part of Unicef’s goal to eliminate these preventable diseases by 2025 through the Global Action Plan.
