Story

We made it 9hr 32mins. Tough at the end as the wind got up in the last 50km making the downhill stretch very hard work! Thank you to everyone who supported us.

A group of 3 from Team Angus, having taken on the Olympic Road race route in September 2012 at the LLR London Bikeathon, have decided to tackle the Dead Sea to the Red Sea Road race which will be held in Jordan on March 15th 2013.

Jonathan Rowland, Paul Hunter and Angus Wells will cycling the 242km route supported by Julie Wells and Steve Nutt who will ensure that the riders are fed and watered along the way. The challenge starts at 4am on the shores of the Dead Sea at an altitude of -415m below sea level. From there teams make their way through the Wadi Araba to an altitude of +120m above sea level before descending towards the shores of the Gulf of Aqaba at sea level.

We are raising money to fund research in memory of Angus Rowland who died aged 14 from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, which is very difficult to treat in teenagers. He loved to cycle.

We want to take on this challenge and raise money to prevent other teenagers losing their lives to this disease. You can read his story on http://www.justgiving.com/Angus-Mailey-Rowland or visit Facebook https://www.facebook.com/AngusRowlandFMNFund
