Brighton Marathon 2010 · 18 April 2010 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

As you might already know I will be running the Brighton Marathon on the 18th April.

And, no, I didn’t suddenly lose my mind…..

My cousin Mario had a motor bike accident last year in which he broke his spine. At the moment Mario is paralysed from the waist down. I say ‘at the moment’ …..

My grandma also spent last years of her life paralysed.

Rather than letting this be a family curse, I am trying to make something positive come out of it…..

By running the marathon, I want to give hope to Mario and show him that miracles do happen (me running marathon will be one of them)! If you have it in your head and in your heart, legs will follow….

It might be too late for my grandma to put her dancing shoes on, but for Mario and others who are in a similar situation, there is still time!

Please help making it possible for them by donating to Spinal Research which raises money to fund research into clinical treatments as well as basic science research.

Please help making all those hours spent pounding the treadmill worthwhile!

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks

Anita
