London Memory Walk + Marathon · 12 October 2019 ·

Campaign by Alzheimer's Society (RCN 296645)
This year thousands of people will walk united, against dementia. We aim, with your help, to raise as much money as possible to help anyone affected by dementia.

Story

Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Let's take on dementia together!

I am going to walk the marathon memory walk on 12/10 ( My mum's birthday). My mum was diagnosed with dementia 4 years ago. It is a horrible illness that gradually takes away a person's feeling of self. Hence more research needs to be done to find a cure for dementia, so that people like my mum can be cured and live a life with dignity and self respect.

The memory walk is on my mum's birthday, and it was a sign for me to do something positive. Having signed up for the walk makes me feel very happy that I am doing something about this illness.

I know that my mum is a very happy and positive person, and we will always be connected by our love. I am sure that she is proud of me for doing something that could contribute to create a world without dementia.
