On Sunday 20th September I ran my first ever marathon – yes that’s 26.2 amazing/gruelling/idiotic/challenging (depending on your point of view!) miles.
Well I did it, 27.5 miles due to getting lost a bit and took a rather gruelling 5 hrs 25 mins. Lots of hilly but lovely wooded bits and the course organiser's obviously decided we should see a variety of sites, ran along the Thames, past a sewerage works, and also a moated palace. Never knew there were so many woods in the capital. My personal cheering team of Steve, Nic & Paul kept my spirits up by encouraging me on at mile 22 and at the end. So would I do another marathon? Well ask me when I've forgotten the pain of this one.... Better go, I have a blister the size of a small egg to deal with.
A massive thank you to all who have sponsored me, encouraged me and generally cheered me on, you've been brilliant. :)
As it’s my first one I’d like to raise a bit of money for a charity and decided to support the Addisons Disease Self-Help Group. is a life-threatening condition caused by the failure of the adrenal glands which means you need to take steroid replacements for life. JFK is the most frequently cited Addisonian, and they also think that Jane Austen may have had it too.
My husband, Steve, has disease and the group have been great in helping us to understand and manage it. They are really small group but they do a lot with the few resources they have. Have a look at their website if you’re interested: http://www.addisons.org.uk/
I’m hoping to raise £600, so it would be great if you can help me reach that, however small the amount you can give. :) Here's some info on what your money could help them to do;
