Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is an important local charity which helps find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer, including the clinical trials of new drugs.
I came up with the idea of an 'Aqua Challenge' as aerobic exercise in water is a fun way of keeping fit and if it can be used to raise money for a good cause, so much the better!
I and several members of my family have undergone cancer treatment, and I would like to ensure that everyone who is diagnosed with this life-threatening disease has the opportunity of having the best and most up-to-date treatment available.
The level of support has been fantastic, and I would like to thank all who took part on Saturday, including my husband Paul, and two other men who were brave enough to flex their muscles along with the ladies! (Not many men seem to take part in Aquarobics.)
I would also like to say a big 'thank you' to David Lloyd Leisure, to the manager and all the staff, for all the help that they have given both before the event and on the day (use of pool, providing lifeguards, handing out forms, and so on), to Jenny Devine the Aqua instructor who gave up her time on Saturday afternoon, Pauline Buglass (Head of Fundraising at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Charitable Funds Office, Liz Luff, the Press and Publicity Officer for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, and of course to everyone who has donated so far. There is still time, and not all of the money has been collected in yet, so if you would like to donate online, please do, it would be very much appreciated. This page closes at the end of October.
