Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in a Zipwire Challenge on 17th July, where I will launch myself at a height of 30m across the Manchester Ship Canal between the Imperial War Museum and the Lowry Museum to raise money for the Chris Lucas Trust. Why would I do such a thing, you may ask...
Finn's Story
My name is Finn Patrick Middleton. I am 5 years old. One day in January 2011 mummy picked me up from school and took me to a huge hospital in Manchester. I had to have a scan which was very noisy and I had to very lie still. After the scan the doctors told my mum I had cancer and then used a really long word that I can’t say...Metastatic Rhabdomyosarcoma... So mummy told me that I had nasty germs growing in my head and that I was going to need lots of magic medicine.
It’s my eye that’s broken you see. It just closed one day. I wasn’t bothered really; I’ve got 2 eyes so I just used the other one. But the doctors said that I needed this magic medicine called chemotherapy to help it get better.
One day I woke up with hair all over my pillow and in my mouth. It was horrible. Mummy and daddy had read a story to tell me all about what was going to happen to me, but I didn’t really listen! I’d rather read my Dr Seuss stories! Daddy shaved my hair so that it wouldn’t be on my pillow anymore. I didn’t like it at first but now I’ve got loads of cool hats and I’m used to it.
I used to cry when mummy took me to school but now I miss it, especially my friends. I miss lots of things now. I miss going swimming and doing normal things. I miss my brother when I’m in hospital. I miss being with all of my family... all of the time.
Mummy, Daddy and their friends are planning lots of things to raise money. They are calling it ‘Finn’s Fund’. I was very excited because I thought I could buy lots of Lego with it. But mummy said it’s not for Lego, she said that there is a Doctor who wants to make a new medicine that can make kids like me better quicker. Which would be fantastic; because I don’t know when I’ll get better.......
Please help Ann to raise money for ‘Finn’s Fund’ and help me to get better.
Love & thanks!
