By the time you read this I will probably be on my way up Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. Ten of us are attempting the trek up the mountain, which is nealy 6000m (over 19,000 feet) above sea level. Altitude permitting, we hope to be summiting on 24 or 25 September.
The trip is totally self funded, but I'm taking the opportunity to raise funds for the Rotherham Gamma Scanner Appeal. The sooner we get another scanner, the more people can benefit from faster diagnosis and appropriate treatment, helping improve the prognosis of so many different health problems. As many of you know, my Dad, Bryan Luker, was a consultant surgeon at the hospital when it first opened. He would have so appreciated such a piece of equipment being available - he would be absolutely amazed at what can now be achieved.
