My daughter, Katie and I had already booked to go trekking in Nepal with Doug Scott’s company, Community Action Treks when the earthquake hit. We chose Community Action Treks because of the support that they give to Community Action Nepal (CAN) which has been working in Nepal for 20 years to provide health and educational facilities for the local people. Many of these projects have been badly affected by the earthquake. Indeed, the village of Langtang through which we were going to trek has been completely destroyed. I am taking part in the Skye half marathon on 13^th June and would like to use this as an opportunity to raise money to help rebuild some of these projects in Nepal.  Rebuilding communities in Nepal will be a very long term undertaking but the CAN team is in a strong position to provide the support that is required as they have been working with communities in Nepal for so many years and already have people in remote areas.
