In October 2012 my friend and colleague, Paul and his family got the terrifying and devastating news that Anna, his wife and young mum of 2 very small children, had an agressive Type 3 tumour that would require urgent treatment.

Anna and Paul, determined to have a target to work towards, set about recruiting Team Verrico to run the half marathon to raise money for the Cancer research unit at the University of Sheffield.

Anna herself was in training and was running 10 miles in 1:45 (which is better that me 5 days before the event - a mark of this amazing woman's strength, resiliance and will power).

Devastatingly, the Verrico family received the news last weekend that the cancer had spread and that Anna is now very ill.
