Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those of you that know me,  you all know that  my  weekends are precious and I make the most of the time away from work:

the odd  dinner with friends, a night out at the theatre, a candlelit dinner for 2,  enjoying a glass of Merlot or 2 with my husband, showing my dahlias at  the local Horticultural shows etc..   So if you  know  all this  you will also know that if anything comes between my weekend and  fun- I am like a bear with a sore head,  the incredible hulk,  a sulking schoolgirl, do I need to add anymore?  and  you are on your own if you dare ask me on Monday how my weekend was!

But  on the 27th -28th February 2010,  I/We  will only too gladly give all the above up- to participate in a more than worthy cause to assist in fundraising for  Little Havens Children's  Hospice. The hospice provides respite breaks, sympton  control and end of life care for youngsters living with serious conditions and who are not expected to reach childhood.

The love and care provided by the care team is as special and unique as  the child.  £2.3million is the cost  each year to keep the hospice open and this could not continue without kind donations

So what is the weekend about?

A group of 100 people from various Banking  Institutions are getting  sponsored to spend the weekend at the Little Havens Hospice  in support of  Havens Hospices.

The group including Me  (without my hair straighteners - although I will have my lipstick in my jean pocket!!) and my husband Peter,( well, I could not leave him at home) will spend 24 hours at  Little Havens (sleeping at the grounds in a Marquee) offering support by undertaking a DIY Blitz at the Hospice as well as providing a party for some of the children that use Little  Havens and their families.

The  tasks for 2010  will be  working with the Wildlife Warden to build a new hedge,  replacing and maintenance of  the car  park of the hospice,  building and installing a new canopy  at the entrance of Little Havens  and Ground Maintenance and decorating.

The weekend in  February 2010 will be the  sixth event  that has been hosted and the group hope that it will be better than  2009.  The group  so far have raised £500,000.

So dig deep into your pockets and give to such a  worthy cause,  as I am sure that you will all agree  that the work they do is  wonderful and without the kind donations  from everyone, hospices like Little  Havens could not continue.

  Thank You

Anna &  Pete
