Story
Hi- thanks for clicking and landing here.
I hated running for years- I will never be a natural and I'm the kid who walked the cross country at school- no point in trying because I knew I "couldn't do it"
Then one day - whilst sad and lost- the only thing I could think to do was try and run away from my head- literally. So I got my trainers on and went. And whilst my head came with me I found it helped.
Over the years running has become an integral part of my life. I run when I'm happy, thoughtful, overfull of energy, sad, upset or when Sarah politely suggests "do you need to go for a run or something?"
I am passionate about mental health services and support- without which I know some of the people I love wouldn't be here. So last year I joined Team RED- in connection with MIND the mental health charity. We ran every day- whether 1k or 10k! I did 200km across the month last year- many with Ollie The Collie. That's her in the photo with me. She tried really hard to make it for this years run but sadly she passed away late December. I now run with her dog tag and the knowledge that when I cry she is looking at me saying "silly Mom- I'm running alongside you".
I didn't plan to fundraise this year but when I've been wincing with my sore legs or been seen wearing my compression socks friends have seen and asked to donate. So I've set my page up and if you feel inspired to donate any amount, I'm sure it'll keep me going when my legs are lead, when I don't think I can go any further and when I'm hating it. I promise to also think of you when I'm laughing, grinning and loving it. Thank you.
