Story
Dearest Friends and Colleagues,
On the 19th of July, after 20 years of careful consideration! Gareth and I finally got married (click to the second picture) on the Victoria Falls in Zambia. It was the most wonderful day of my life and I chose a country I have always loved...Zambia.In true African fashion a week before we were due to leave we were left without accommodation for the final 4 days and the wedding itself. The Islands of Siankaba rescued us and basically went out of their way to salvage the wedding and make it a day that none of us will ever forget. I owe them and Zambia a huge debt of gratitude.
In conjunction with the wonderful U Foundation, Islands of Siankaba have financed the building of a school for little Zambian children, giving them a safe haven from which to learn and find a way, through education, out of the terrible circle of poverty.I was really touched when we visited and met their teacher (previously the barman at the Lodge). Many of these children would have had to walk over 20 KM a day previously to get any schooling. He gives them all hope and a future ...but they have so little and there is so much more that can be achieved by raising the funds they need to finish the school.
I am therefore cycling for those children (click back to original picture) to Paris, to raise money for the school and the excellent work the U foundation does. It is my small way of saying thank you to some very wonderful and dedicated people and hopefully pedalling hard to give a few African children the chance of a better brighter & more positive future.
Do support me. Every penny and donation however small helps enormously!
Thanks so so so much......Annax
