As part of a bigger plan with my work colleagues to collectively raise £100,000 for Macmillan I have committed myself and my younglings to 2 distance events.

On Tuesday the 12th July i will be taking part in a relay race across London running 5km of the course from London Bridge to Westferry Circus. Yes this is only 5km but it's during my normal working day which means I have to go to work before I run and return to work afterwards looking like a sweaty mess with crap hair (true story)! Also this is a Tuesday and there is a real danger of the following:

1. Getting run over by a bus/taxi/rickshaw/man in suit;

2. Someone i know seeing me in sweaty lycra, taking a photo and putting it on social media;

3. Tripping on a cobble/pigeon/dog poo/discarded chips and suffering massive injury to pride;

4. Spotting a Garfunkels restaurant being forced to stop for a veggie toasty and some onion rings...then puking on my new trainers.

My boys are just 4 and 5 years old but they are going to do their bit too. At the end of July they are both going to put on their favourite superhero costumes and walk/run/crawl/skip/fly a massive 5km around Central London landmarks! Have you seen how small they are.....5km for them is literally a marathon!!

We will be flying by Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Nelsons Column and Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and all the other places that Superheros inevitably end up climbing to the top of when fighting the bad guy....

They will be taking a selection of their best Super Selfies as they go so we also have the added issue of a 4 year old operating a camera phone without dropping it!
