Hello everyone,

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page- Annabel is climbing Mt Kilimanjaro for Lupus UK.

In March of this year I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). SLE is an incurable disease of the immune system, where the body's defences become hyperactive and begin to attack the body's tissues. Symptoms of the disease that i have experienced so far mimic those of other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. I am suffering alongside over 50,000 people in the UK, 90% of which are women between 15 and 30 years of age.

Now that I have regained the ability to walk up the stairs and eat my dinner with a knife and fork I am determined that I must make the best of the bad hand i have been dealt. I intend to do my part in finding a cure by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Lupus UK.

In order to do this I need a little help from my friends and family (and their friends and family!!). I need to raise £4000 in sponsorship in order to have the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and support a charity that very recently has become exceptionally important.

My trek begins on the 27th January and finishes on the 5th of February 2011. So i have a mountain of training and fund-raising to do!!

 

All I ask is please dig deep and help me to achieve something as big as Mount Kilimanjaro itself!!
