Story
Rett Syndrome arrived into our lives when my little niece, Lauren, was diagnosed with this horrible condition four years ago. Currently there is no cure or treatment for her or for any of the girls and women suffering with the relentless barrage of symptoms Rett brings. However, in the past 12 months research for the disease has seen incredible steps forward, providing the potential to finally give families the news they are desperately waiting to hear – that they have a choice to be able to help their daughters be better, that they have some treatments and ultimately a cure. The thought that one day Lauren might be able to communicate with us and live a 'normal' life spurs us on to keep fund-raising to get that cure.
In February this year Lauren's mummy, Helen, turned 40 and wanted to do something to mark the occasion so she launched The Fabulous 40 fund-raising challenge. She originally wanted 39 friends and family to pledge to raise funds for Reverse Rett but in fact this figure now stands at 55 which is truly amazing.
As many of you know I love photography and as part of my fund-raising challenge I am having some of my photographs printed up as greeting cards which I am selling. Details of my cards and order form will appear on my Facebook page shortly. Send me an email or give me a call to order. My fund-raising is linked to this challenge. Please help me to help Helen reach her target. Thank you so much.
