Story

I am proud to be a Wobbleberry.  A Wobble What??

“A shy, elusive creature, the wobbleberry's natural habitat is spectating at BE events, and supporting other riders” (well, I’ve done it once so I reckon I fit the bill thus far . . !!)

“Key Characteristics:

- not currently fit enough to get round a cross country course

- not currently brave enough to get round a cross country course

- old enough to know better, and know that this will hurt!

- dedicated - to raising money, to training, and conquering the fear

- supportive of other Wobbleberries - aiming to be weeble-esque, "we wobble, but we don't fall down".

Yes, yes, YES, yes and yes  . . Sold!!

The Wobbleberry Challenge: “To encourage middle aged, wimpy riders to challenge themselves to compete in a British Eventing (BE)80cm Event in the autumn of 2017” i.e. Dressage, Show Jumping (80cm) and Cross Country (around 1.5 miles with 80cm ‘natural’type jumps).

The Inspiration:   Hannah Francis, a talented 17 year old Eventer who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (an aggressive bone cancer) in May 2015 and tragically lost her battle in August this year.

The Reason:
To raise funds for Hannah’s legacy,  the Charity ‘Willbury Wonder Pony’ (named after a soft toy horse mascot she was given at the beginning of her treatment), which raises funds for both bone cancer research and granting horsey wishes to those with serious illnesses.

My story:   Last August I finally realised my childhood dream of owning my very own pony in the form of the gorgeous Molly cob.   Molly is a 13 year old, 14.2/3 traditional cob with a heart of gold, a love of jumping but an uncertainty of novelty.  I am a 55 year old novice with ambition way above my ability but know that if I can find the confidence to jump a bit higher and convince Molly that the jumps are really not scary (gulp - believe me, they really, REALLY ARE!!) that we can rise to this challenge!!   I’ve had a ‘person to pony’ with Molly and after an initial wobbly ‘neigh’ she nuzzled in and nickered in agreement. . . . after all, cobs CAN  :)

Please, PLEASE support our mission - every single penny goes to Hannah’s wonderful charity whilst providing the motivation we need to succeed at BE80 and not wimp out.  Thank you x x
