Story

BIG THANKS to everyone who supported our urgent appeal by either donating money or spreading the word to their friends. As you can see, we have more than exceeded what we hoped to raise, which is fantastic news for the paediatric department in Hoima! The oxygen concentrator and saturation monitor arrived before we left, so they are now in use in the new special care baby unit :) We will use the remaining funds to buy more essential supplies / equipment for the children's ward and special care baby unit to further improve the standards of healthcare received.

Rhi, Anne and Sam xxx 26/10/11

               *****************************************************************

NEWSFLASH: Thanks to the generosity of those donating so far, we have raised enough money to order the oxygen concentrator! It should hopefully arrive in the next couple of days for us to set it up before we leave.

NEW APPEAL: The Special Care Baby Unit also desperately needs an oxygen saturation monitor - to help identify which babies need the oxygen we can now provide.

If you have so far missed out on the opportunity to give to this worthwhile cause, here is your chance to do something amazing. If you donated to help buy the oxygen concentrator, please consider giving again. Every penny is vital. 19/10/11

**********************************************************************

As many of you know, Rhiannon, Anne and Sam are currently in Uganda and have been working in the children’s wards in Hoima.

Since we have been here, we have set up a new special care baby area, which will provide care for premature and sick newborns. At the moment, the unit cannot provide oxygen for babies who need it because the hospital cannot afford to buy an oxygen concentrator. This means that these poor, fragile babies are dying unneccessarily due to the lack of resources.

Whilst we are here, we would love to secure funding for a new oxygen concentrator. We are very grateful for those who have already donated money or gifts, but are now appealing to all you others out there who may be financially able to help.

We only need to raise an additional £400 to buy this life saving piece of equipment, so please, please consider giving a donation, however big or small and know that you will be helping to save the lives of these precious babies.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. 17/10/11
