Brighton Marathon 2010 · 18 April 2010 ·

Compassionate care for the community. Southern Hospice Group is the charity for the three hospices our local communities know, love and support. Chestnut Tree House children's hospice near Arundel, Martlets in Hove and St Barnabas House in Worthing.

Story

I had always said that I'd never be able to run a marathon or wanted to run a marathon but once the Brighton Marathon was announced it was hard to resist taking part in Brighton's first ever marathon especially when it's so close to home! Running has now taken over my life but I'm really enjoying all of the training.

Based in Hove, the Martlets Hospice provides end of life care services to adults with life limiting illness including cancer. Facilities include an 18 bed InPatient Unit, Day Hospice and Martlets at Home Service. Practical and emotional support is also offered to the families and carers of patients including helping them through bereavement. Their main aim is to maximise the quality of life for our patients and they strive to support patient choice, dignity and independence in all they do. We are a registered charity and it costs over £4 million every year to run the Hospice.

Please give generously for this very worthwhile local charity.
