My story

I must be mad ... I am training to run the whole 10km this year!

As most of you will know I lost my mum in 2007 when she suffered a massive stroke and died within 36 hours. She was my rock. Still can't believe it happened.

This year my brother died aged only 44, from a heart attack, again totally unexpected and within minutes.

Well that was me 'spooked'. So I got myself booked for an ECG. Thankfully it came back all clear (well sure Doc said I had a cracking set of boobs heehee) except I was 'unfit' . Don't think Doc appreciated my use of treadmill (perfect for putting towels on to dry).

Anyway Heartbeat (where I had my ECG done) are a brilliant charity, they have got me in to their own gym twice a week on a cardio circuits session (at 8am - it was pure torture for the first few times). It has been the making of me ... which believe me was a challenge a few months ago. They could very easily have told me I just needed to go to the gym twice a week, but they didn't (probably because they would have known that I may not have done it on my own). I am now hooked, and have started spinning and in January am taking up boxing again.

Not only are they helping so many of those who have suffered heart problems .. they are also here for prevention (as is my case). They sadly can't bring my mum or my brother back, but they are working day in day out to stop other famillies going through the terrible suffering that heart attacks and strokes bring.

Please help me raise money for this amazing charity, and not only will you help them, you'll help me get fitter too. Whilst I don't have Facebook, I will update my twitter page with progress. I am @MarketingAnni
