Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We have set ourselves a challenge to climb Ben Nevis at the end of June this year. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK and stands at 1,344metres. We are doing the climb to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
My aunt Margaret sadly passed away in February this year after a two year battle with cancer. She was a remarkable person to many people. Born and brought up in the Shetland Isles, she moved to Cardiff in the 80s and worked as a social worker. She was an intelligent, funny, spirited woman who loved animals (especially cats) and supported numerous charities.
I never paid much attention to the wonderful work Marie Curie Cancer Care do until I visited my aunt in one of their hospices. The last few weeks of her life were spent being cared for at the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth, South Wales http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/penarth. Just knowing that the nurses were caring for her brought the family some comfort during a very sad time.
We have set ourselves a target of £800, but will be happy with whatever amount we raise as every penny will benefit a great cause.
Please sponsor us and help us raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. After all, we’re a couple of nearly middle-aged couch potatoes, so this will be a challenge!
We will post photos of our trek up the mountain and at the top!
