We are very excited at the prospect of getting married on 21 May and we want to use our 'wedding list' to share some of our joy with the people we met in Malawi last summer.
In August 2009 we went to the Fisherman's Rest, a Christian mission base and guest house in Southern Malawi, to help in orphanages, in the bush and in local churches. It was a completely new experience for both of us and certainly brought us closer together! Partly therefore, it is the reason we are getting married this year.
One village near Fisherman's Rest, Mwanmunamodzi, is desperately in need of fresh water - they have to walk 20 minutes uphill every day to the nearest source, or they use contaminated water from the river. Hiring the expertise and the equipment to drill a proper borehole will cost £3,400 and we would love to be able to contribute to this. The photo shows us with a group of men from Fisherman's Rest last year, some of whom live in Mwanmunamodzi.
We would love it therefore if, instead of giving us a wedding present, you considered donating to this project. It will mean much more to us and stop us arguing over which set of cutlery we use! We are using International Teams, and established charity, to collect the money; giving via this site allows you also to claim back the tax on your donation if you are UK tax payer.
Thanks so much - it will make our wedding day even more special to think that our guests have helped with this.
