Hi, I'd like to raise enough for a tablet like an iPad for children with communications disabilities. I'm JustAsking because my knees have justasked me not to attempt a sponsored 10K Run [however, email info@aact4children.org which has places in the London run 10th July if your knees give permission]. It would be spiffing if you could help with a donation.
Access Ability Communications Technology (AACT)'s new project iMuse is looking at how museums can be made more accessible, educational and enjoyable for people with communications difficulties. With mobile technology, disabled children can join in trails, drawing, telling stories with friends in ways that weren't previously possible. The equipment would be loaned to a partner museum for visitors to try out. Our first partner is the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading and we aim to have two more partner museums in 2012. After that we'll encourage as many museums as possible to use IT to help disabled visitors join in.
If you have ideas on how IT can help people with communications disabilites we'd love to hear from you. And of course if you are in the area next year, visit an iMuse museum and try things out for yourself. Thanks again. Annette
