Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi, I'm Annie and you've proabably come here via my Facebook link, or via Twitter, I'm 32, female and have been shaving my underarms for over 20 years. I saw the campaign for Verity and it reminded me of friends with PCOS and the fact that I have absolutely no idea what my ungroomed armpits look like, which seems a little wierd when you think about it!

I was a little bit reticent to do this (my boyfriend is a little wierded out by it), and I said that if I got 5 sponsors, I'd do it. I got 4 offers (including my somewhat wary boyfriend, bless him!) when I put the suggestion forward on Facebook, but one of those people was an old friend I was very close to at school, who has PCOS, so I decided that she counted as double.

The Armpits4August campaign is a little like the Movember campaign for prostate cancer, just women not shaving our pits! I will be sharing weekly updates of my armpits on FB and Twitter, If you are grossed out by this, and don't want to see pictures, don't whinge, donate more than £10 and I will forego that week's share! I am also considering dyeing the hair a bright colour at the end of August, and if you donate £20 or more, you get to decide the colour! (purple, turquoise, red or royal blue). I'm one week in, and the hair isn't very long... It was funny having a bath on Saturday the 4th of August, shaving my legs and then not automatically doing my pits.
