Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!!
Next November, we will be taking on the trip of a lifetime in trekking The Inca Trail in Peru. In doing so, we will be raising money for Rowcroft Hospice in Torquay, a charity very personal to us, as many of you will know.The care and compassion Anth's family received from Rowcroft last year was amazing. Please visit their website at www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk sometime to read all about their vision as we are taking on this challenge to help them further.
We are planning lots of fundraising events that you may like to take part in with us or just hear about from us over the coming months. so please keep checking back for updates and we'll keep you posted. Thank you for your donations and sale items for the Table Top Sale which was held in The Mackarness Hall in Honiton on March 12th. We raised £60 from that event. We raised over £200 at the Chudleigh Coffee Morning on May 7th so again thank you for your attendance there. Step 1 of Mike's Step Challenge saw him come in 26th place - an excellent achievement!
Could you sponsor Mike Lyne? - also helping us to reach our target - on his 'The Steps Challenge'? The basic premise goes something like this: there are six 'classic' distances for road racing and he will be to doing all six over a period of six months. He'll start with a 5K and end with a full marathon, each race being longer than the last, hence the idea of steps...
Mike's 'Steps Challenge' - Being terrified of heights, trekking the Inca Trail is out of the question for me. But in order to help the guys raise this much needed money I’ve decided to undertake something I’ve entitled ‘The Steps Challenge’ and it goes something like this… There are five classic road racing distances ranging from 5 kilometres through to a full marathon of 26 miles 385 yards (or 42.195 KMs). Commencing in April, I am going to run a race a month over the full range, increasing the distance each month, thereby the notion of ‘steps’. The challenge, apart from actually running is to achieve all six without major injury or illness! The planned races and dates are as follows: 5k Bolt Round the Holt, Farnham, Surrey 16 April;
5m Chisledon 5, Chisledon, Swindon, Wiltshire 22nd May;
10k D Day 10k, Portsmouth, Hampshire, 5 June;
10m New Forest 10, Brockenhurst, Hampshire, 10 July;
Half marathon, Sturminster Newton ½, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, 7 August;
Marathon, Kent Coastal Marathon, Margate, Kent, 4 September.
Should you be in any of the above areas on the relevant dates I’d love your support. And if you happen to be a masseuse or physiotherapist even better! So please give freely in aid of Anth and Andy...
Thank you...Mike Lyne.
Our amazing trekking adventure will begin in the Inca capital of Cucso, deep in the Andes Mountains with its altitude of 3,200m. We will then trek the trail that leads to Machu Picchu - what's said to be the world's most important archaeological find and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World! The trail leads to the majestic Sun Gate and then the fascinating and stunning ruins of Machu Piccu. This is our challenge - to conquer this original Inca Trail.
This classic Inca Trail encompasses 3 high mountain passes - the highest being 4,200m. This trek will be tough and will certainly test us to the limit, but upon witnessing the sight of Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, the breathtaking views across the Andes, and experiencing the history and culture of the Inca people our efforts will be rewarded and worthwhile.
