Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I would like to take this chance just to tell you guys why i'm raising money for the BSA, I have had a stammer for as long as i can remember, the first time i can physically remember it affecting me was when i was in junior school. The teacher had asked me to read out loud from a book to the rest of the class, now for most children this is dreadful enough, but when you cannot speak fluently and stammer on every 3rd or 4th word it makes it 10 times as bad, other children laughing at you, you get more nervous and breathless so you stammer more and then the teacher stops you from reading because everybody is laughing at you he thinks it helps to take you out of the situation but all it really does is make you feel worse. It really was hurrendous. As i grew up i learnt to live with it abit more until i reached 22 and felt that it was holding me back in my life. I mean i didn event want a promotion at work because it meant me attending meetings and answering and talking on the phone and that was just never going to happen. I started speech therapy and my life changed i began to stammer less, became more self confident and started to become the person i wanted to be. I will always have a stammer and will always pull unusual faces when i get stuck on a specific word and be unusually dysfluent with my speech, but now my stammer doesn't hold me back, i embrace it and have a laugh about it. It really does mean alot to Me and Katy that you donate to the BSA, you really are helping somebody have a voice.

Now for the technical jargon.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
