The GEN Initiative is a UK-registered charity working with the Indian-based charity, End Poverty (www.endpovertyindia.org), to enable some of India's most disadvantaged villagers - particularly the Meo tribe in the Alwar District of Rajasthan - to help themselves improve the quality of their lives.

Story

After last year's "marathon" effort of 12 10K runs in 12 months, this year I am focussing on one event - the prestigeous Royal Parks Half Marathon in October. The reason is the same -  to raise money for the GEN Initiative.

GEN is doing so much to empower the indigenous people in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India and we want to do more -  providing literacy classes in the villages, teaching craftwork skills, establishing eye camps and dealing with health problems. We set up village deveopment groups - it's all about grass roots empowerment.  Our local non-government partner is crying out for funds!

GEN is only small so if I can raise £1,000 it would really boost our activiites in India, making a massive diference to the lives of so many villagers. I received enormous support last year. I am hoping I will do even better this year.

Whatever you can sponsor me for will be well received and put to good use. Thank you!
