We work tirelessly to preserve key historic ships, boats, and aircraft. The National Museum of the Royal Navy holds the most comprehensive collection of Royal Navy heritage in the world and the largest collection of historic ships in Europe. Our vision is to link Navy to Nation, inspiring visitors.

Story

There is more to the history of the Royal Navy than sea battles. There is a 1000 year story of peace and war. Your Navy is busy every day around the world, often unseen, but their mission preserves the security and prosperity of our nation. This requires dedication and sacrifice from those who serve at sea and the families they often leave behind for many months. I believe their stories, whether heroic or mundane but threading through many generations, should not be forgotten. HMS - Hear My Story - captures and celebrates both their extraordinary exploits and a common twentieth century maritime social heritage we all share as Britons. Portsmouth's new icon, the Spinnaker Tower looms 170 metres (twice the height of VICTORY's mainmast head) over the home of the Royal Navy. The ropewalk in the dockyard below that furnished her rigging may have closed but sailors still have to trust their lives to ropes, so abseiling from the tower might help an old admiral emulate his forebears and your sponsorship can help celebrate and conserve our national heritage.
