We raise funds through events to help blind, partially sighted children

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 3rd September a team of determined riders will depart from the offices of IBC in London and will cycle 300 miles in 24 hours to the RAI in Amsterdam for the IBC Show.

This 24hour cycle-sportif challenge was founded and will be led by Ciaran Doran of Harris Corporation, a seasoned veteran of long distance cycling. Ciaran will be joined by other members of the broadcast industry who decided that cycling was a better option than flying to IBC 2011!

This will be a grueling test of will and stamina. The riders will be taking themselves to the limit to raise funds for Vision Charity, the TV industry charity that gives blind and VI children a better chance to succeed in life. The Riders have a fundraising target of £100,000 to support these children.

“Bringing the industry behind this event and behind the Vision Charity with it’s strong and historical ties to our business is a great opportunity to support others in need” said Ciaran Doran,

“Vision (www.visioncharity.co.uk) aims to enable Blind and visually impaired children to fully contribute to society. We fund projects throughout the UK providing equipment, activities & skills to broaden their horizons and engage with the community. To date, Vision has raised in excess of £3m for equipment, activities and research to change the lives of Blind & VI children and their carers. Our donations benefit organisations throughout the UK and recently in Sierra Leone & Sri Lanka.

Vision’s latest initiative is a sports legacy fund, which will enable Blind & VI children and young adults to access sport throughout the UK. We aim to increase awareness of the challenges and raise funds to enable our children to overcome the obstacles that currently prevent them from participating. Vision believes strongly that sport is a great vehicle for change. It encourages team building, problem solving, social awareness and many other attributes that will improve the chance for our children and young people to fully contribute to society and the world around them
