Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I decided to sign up for the Ride Across Britain I wasn't really intending to raise money for charity, it was for other reasons, partly in memory of my brother, who was a passionate cyclist, and partly to do something a little out of the ordinary that hopefully will give me many lasting memories.
Many people, however, have been kind enough to ask if I'm raising money and to offer to sponsor me, so it seems a shame to let the opportunity to pass by without helping a worthy cause.
After some thought I have decided to raise money for Thomley Activity Centre, a recreational facility for disabled children and their families located quite close to where we live in Oakley. When Jane and I were in Ealing we lived next door to a lady who was bringing up on her own a teenage boy who was severely autistic, and we saw at fairly close quarters just how challenging life can be for families in those circumstances.
Thomley Activity Centre provides a wonderful facility where disabled children and their families can have a fun day out in a relaxed, safe and accessible environment. Its uniqueness means that thousands of children come from far and wide to use the Centre. If you click through their link on this page you can find out a lot more about what they do, I recommend you do because it is quite inspiring!
Importantly, every single penny you donate will go straight to Thomley because all of the costs of my participation in the event have been taken care of (just ask my wife!).
As you know, JustGiving is a safe and secure method of donating and they'll never contact you or pass on any of your details.
Thanks for your support, it will make a big difference on the road when I'm having to dig deep!
Anthony
