Story
Well I do apologise for my silence... but I did do it - under time, and managed to not fall off, get knocked out, detoured or disqualified...all bonus points !
The ride was terrific, fom the start to finish, marshalling and route, public support was fantastic, as was that of friends and family.
Thanks very much to all who have donated, it is a great scheme and does work, (I know, Ailish volunteered as a tutor 2yrs ago and has seen the ongoing support and results since, hence my choice of this charity)
The sponsorship did help me get through those quieter hard times of puffing, panting, gasping and cursing that could be heard on those long hard hills...I'll be entering tomorow for a ballot place for 2014 and I can recommend it, lets see how it goes.. Thanks again - to all who have donated so far, and those who will be, P.S.the page stays active for donations for 3 months.
posted August July -l'm doing the Ride London-Surrey 100 on Sun 4th August(this Sunday!!!) in aid of In Harmony ltd. Its a fantastic charity that is doing great work with children in places like Liverpool,Lambeth and Leeds to name just a few. In Harmony employs the very human reaction to and engagement with music, check out their website and see how music can be used to transform lives http://www.ihse.org.uk/
The ride will be my most challenging up to date, 100 miles in under 9 hours, is the challenge, covering some of the Olympic route, including Box Hill !!!!, starting at the Olympic Park in London, continuing out into Surrey and returning to finish(hopefully) on the Mall, along with 19,999 other riders.
One of my my last training challenge ride was the Billinge Beast in Lancashire, on the Ride for the 96 and I do expect to hear myself gasp again "Why on earth am I doing this?", but really I know why I am doing this because I know for sure some little person somewhere will benefit, and of course all little people need nurturing to become good big people - your donation will do just that.
