Lennox Children's Cancer Fund makes a positive difference to the lives of children fighting cancer. This is achieved through key projects, such as Respite Breaks and Care Grants, which support the whole family practically, financially and emotionally at a time when it is needed most.

Story

Muhammed Ali. 'Iron' Mike Tyson. 'Sugar' Ray Leonard. Rocky Marciano. The list of all-time great boxers goes on, and I'm looking to join them...in having also been punched in the face in a boxing ring. I'll be training for 8 weeks for a 3, 2-minute round white collar boxing fight. Training officially starts 24th September, for a November 23rd fight night. The main aim is hopefully raising some money for a worthwhile charity. The page fundraising goal is purely arbitrary, and all donations, no matter how small, are greatfully received. Aside from the charity aspect, this is also a personal challenge for myself. Having grown up watching and enjoying the odd boxing fight (and the Rocky movies) alongside my Dad, I got into actually training more recently. I mainly wanted to learn and appreciate the 'sweet science' beyond the ability to shout "hit him" at the TV. I've nothing but respect for those that compete to such high levels in a sport that is incredibly taxing physically, but also mentally demanding. It's really not easy to try to out-think someone at the same time as they are trying to punch you. I've really no idea how I will do come fight night, but whatever the result, it's something I know I will be happy to have tried. If I can instantly retire undefeated, bonus!

The event itself is at the Holiday Inn in Brighton, November 23rd. If you are at all interested in coming along, please do contact me.
