This is the ApelElain fundraising page for the Wales Air Ambulance http://www.walesairambulance.com in aid of Elain James. Elain James was antenatally diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease. Following a short period of stability at home Elain's condition suddenly deteriorated in June 2010. Elain was kept overnight in ICU at Bronglais General Hospital but the following day she still wasn't deemed stable enough to make a 2 hour journey down to Cardiff, the nearest specialist Cardiac Centre. It was at this point the services of the Wales Air Ambulance were called for. Elain was swiftly transported down the landing site and flown down to Cardiff with her mummy by her side. The journey took just 25minutes.
For now Elain is home and stable but will need more surgery in the near future. We are hoping things remain stable enough for her not to need the services of the Air Ambulance again but can live safe in the knowledge that if needed, Elain can be transported to the nearest Cardiac Centre in less than 30mins.
Wales Air Ambulance is run entirely on charitable donations therefore every penny raised will be keeping the crews flying.
Please visit Elain’s charity page for details of this brave girls story. http://www.apelelain.com.
Therefore in order to raise money for this vital charity, Myself (Craig Stephens) and Dan Parry are planning on attempting the Three Peaks Challenge http://www.thethreepeakschallenge.co.uk , which involves climbing the three highest peaks, respectively, in England, Wales and Scotland, within 24 hours. The Peaks are:
- Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)
- Scafell Pike, in England (978m)
- Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1344m)
For those of you who know me and Dan, I'm sure you'll agree that this is a major challenge for two kebab and beer lovers, but for story and charity close to our hearts we are determined to succeed and raise as much money as possible.
Thanks for your help and support.
