Story
As some of you may know, I am running the marathon again this year. To keep with the spirit of the day I thought that this would be a great opportunity to raise some much needed money for ChildLine. I ran for ChildLine 2 years ago and as that was a successful attempt, I figured that there is no need to change a "finishing" formula for 2007. They were also very kind after the last marathon to provide a sports massage and an apple to help get me back to normal – and as they will be doing that again this year it is difficult to say no to running for them again. Jerome (a friend and ChildLine team mate) is also flying all the way from Johannesburg to join the thousands of people running for charity on Sunday
ChildLine is a free 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Volunteer counselors advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Every day around 4,500 children call ChildLine, but lack of funds means that only 2,500 of them get through.
Many thanks for your support and if you are on the marathon route this Sunday, look out for fast moving red vests with white trim. I’ll be looking out for you – but hopefully not too near the back of the pack.
Andrew
