I have done it!!
Today, 14 March 2010,  I completed the 60 miles ride. It was very very tough.
Thank you very much to everyone who has donated so far! You have all been very generous and I'm truly grateful, as I'm sure the pupils at the school will be too. If you haven't donated yet and would like to, please do. Please send the page to your family members and friends. Who knows! Thanks again! x x

In the last five years, I have worked with the villagers and the charity Hand in Hand www.hihand.org/kiraracha.html to build 6 classrooms at Kiraracha primary school in the village in which I was born. Currently there are 360 children. 9 more classrooms are desperately needed to accommodate the 500 or so children currently not able to access even part-time primary education.

This appeal is to raise £2000 to compliment the efforts of the villagers, local donations and complete the foundations of the building. Further funds will be raised through second-hand mobile phones appeal www.youtouchafrica.org/projects.htm, the charity Hand in Hand and the Tanzanian Government which has promised to pay for the roofing.

You can rest assured that a/ the entire amount of your donations to You Touch Africa will be well monitored and spent on the project, and b/ you will be warmly welcome to the village to stay and visit the school to see the results for yourself.

The expected outcomes of this project are:

·         -the provision of a total of 100 pre-primary places for local children

·         -the provision of total of 752 primary places of local children

·         -opportunities for further secondary education or vocational skills training in the community which are currently being developed

·         -the ability for Kiraracha children to be educated locally instead of either not attending school at all or having to walk many kilometres to other villages.
