100 Golf Holes In A Day · 30 May 2017

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

The Charlie Craig Memorial Fund has been set up by Charlie's family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s screening programme. The aim is to fund the screening of young people within the local community.

Charlie was an amazing cyclist and under-16 champion who went to my primary school and is hugely missed in the local community.

As a result I am hoping to raise funds in Charlie's memory by becoming the first person to hit a golf ball the 83 mile distance from Coast to Coast.
Starting at Maryport Golf Club on the West Coast on Monday, May 28, 2018, I will play 15 entire courses along the cross-country route before completing my challenge at Tynemouth Golf Club on the East Coast on Friday, June 1.

I am very grateful to the 15 golf clubs across Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear, who have kindly allowed me to play their courses along the approximate path of Hadrian's Wall.

Last year, I successfully played 100 holes in a single day to raise money and awareness for CRY.I played off men’s yellow tees to complete the 108-hole, 33,262 yard challenge, which took me over 16 hours to complete. I covered a distance of nearly 25 miles with a buggy to help share the strain.
