Story

I hope to tackle a different challenge each year to raise money and awareness for YoungMinds in memory of teenager Ben Stollery. Ben was a good friend and teammate of my older brother, he was a top sportsperson who will always be remembered for his strength, humour and leadership on and off the rugby pitch.

As a result, this year I am hoping to raise funds in Ben's memory by becoming the first person to hit a golf ball the 83 mile distance from Coast to Coast.

Starting at Maryport Golf Club on the West Coast on Monday, May 28, 2018, I will play 15 entire courses along the cross-country route before completing my challenge at Tynemouth Golf Club on the East Coast on Friday, June 1.

I am very grateful to the 15 golf clubs across Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear, who have kindly allowed me to play their courses along the approximate path of Hadrian's Wall.

My progress can be followed through the week on my Twitter feed @ArchieQualt

Last year, I successfully played 100 holes in a single day to raise money and awareness for YoungMinds. I played off men’s yellow tees to complete the 108-hole, 33,262 yard challenge, which took me over 16 hours to complete. I covered a distance of nearly 25 miles.
