The Irish Challenge 2010
The Irish Challenge is for teams of four to cycle in relay over 500 miles in three days from Blarney Castle in south west Ireland to Dublin. We hope to raise at least £5000 for charity.
The four riders comprising the indomitable Archie's Angels are still speaking after three successive cycle challenges around France. We hope to be faster this year as two of the team (guess which ones from the photo) are making a concerted effort to shift a few pounds and avoid the weight police. Ireland will pose the new challenge of rubbish weather, seasickness on overnight ferries and leprechauns lining the route. Unlike in France, we at least hope to see some people at work in the towns and villages we cycle through. We have been very appreciative of your support in the last few years and it has spurred us on through the darker moments when Archie took it all too seriously and forgot it was just a charity bike ride, Pete kept calling his wife to tell her how big the hills are, Matt ate the last croissant, and Paddy got fed up with the albino jokes.
This year we are raising money for Cancer Research UK, the Heart Foundation and the Countess Mountbatten Cancer Hospice. We hope you agree they are worthy causes and would like you to know we of course pay all our costs so that anything raised goes entirely to the charities.
Many thanks in advance....Archie, Pete, Matt and Paddy
