In 10 months we've run 6 full marathons with nothing but the promise of beer when we finish to keep us going.  We've sprinted, jogged, limped and even skipped through torn Cartilage, ITB, Blisters, turned ankles, black toenails, UNSPEAKABLE friction burns, cronic nipple rub, and hours of witnessing Lee's male grooming rituals in various locations throughout the world... We couldn't have done it without your support and donations that have kept us going throughout the year.  You have our heartfelt thanks, and if there's any spare cash you have knocking around, the donations page closes on New Year's Day. Thanks Matt, Lee and Jim    ------------------------------------------------------------------- In 3 weeks, it'll all be over.  Marathon number 6 in Las Vegas beckons. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Well folks, it's marathon number 5, in the fair city of Dublin!  For some of us, completing this marathon (if) will mean we've each ran 131 miles in aid of this great cause, so in honour of that, any donations would be greatly appreciated. Will and Stuart however will be popping their marathon cherries in Dublin!  This is a REALLY brave thing to do and they need your full support, so if you feel like digging that wee bit deeper that's be just fine too! JK  ------------------------------------------------ Update:-  Will Hill, Andy Smith, and Stuart Campbell will be guest runners for the Dublin City Marathon on 31st of October 2011.  These brave lads have bee training away like nothing normal.  Show your support by giving a few quid!  ---------------------------------------------- Update:-  The Arctic to Desert Challenge team would like to welcome it's first Guest Member, Mr Stuart Cambell who will be running with us for the Dublin Marathon! ---------------------------------------------- Matt, Lee and Jim have now completed 104.8 marathon miles, through all weathers, all manner on injuries and have even limped though 26.2 miles in the midnight sun.  We've ran marathons in Barcelona, Belfast, Cork, and 200 miles inside the Arctic Circle in Tromso.  Share this page with your friends and try and get them donating too! ----------------------------------------------- HALF WAY THERE!!!!  The boys have just completed the Cork Marathon, and have now ran a total of over 235 miles between them, all for this great cause!  We're going to be in Norway for the Arctic portion of our challenge on the 25th of June.  BRING IT ON! Matt, Lee and Jim are attempting to complete 6 marathons through 2011 ranging from 300 kilometres inside the Arctic Circle, to the Nevada Desert.  We're going to be competing in Barcelona, Belfast, Tromso(Norway), Cork, Dublin and we're going to finish up in Las Vegas on the 4th of December. Have you stopped laughing yet??? Good.... now we can carry on..... It all started, (as these things often do), with Lee getting a silly idea and peer pressure dragging Jim and Matt along with his horrifically painful idea. Did we want to do six marathons this year??? Err... No. But after thinking about it Jim had  had no other plans for a mid life crisis, Matt generally follows up on his drunken bets, and Lee needed to organise something in the 35 minutes per week he's not at work. This provided us with the opportunity to get fit, raise some money for The Motor Neuron Disease Association and get to honour the memory of Jim's mum. Jim's Mum, Jean, was a community midwife, who took great joy in everything about her work. She loved to talk with expectant parents. Mum was well known for sending the junior midwifes (who didn’t know what she was up to) off for a tea break, so she would get to deliver the babies. She also loved being there to support new mothers when they were struggling with the demands of a new baby and didn’t know how much more they could cope with. Motor Neuron Disease took away her ability to do any of these things and eventually took her away from us. Sadly, she never got to be there to support her own daughters through their pregnancies, and most importantly, meet her grandchildren.   The Motor Neurone Disease Association has the following mission statement on their website “Our mission is to fund and promote research to bring about an end to MND. Until then we will do all that we can to enable everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible, and die with dignity.
