Area 14 - Tuff Nuts have completed their challenge!!

What a fab day had by one and all, very tired Area and Store Leaders at the end of the "8 Mile Hike" from "Mam Tor" across "The Great Ridge" to "Lose Hill"....

Once everyone had arrived, the early morning Derbyshire mist making this very tough...several Tom Tom's took them in the wrong direction :-(
We starterd the trek at 10:30 as the mist suddenly cleared it was like someone turning the light on!!...

Area 14 led by @amanda allen took to the slopes of the rolling hills of the beautiful Peak District...

The first challenge was getting to the top of "Mam Tor"...At the top the Store Leaders were suitably impressed that they had dont it!....Not so impressed to find that that was actually the start of their "8 Mile Hike Club"...Ooops I did email them the route!

We continued over steep and rocky terrain across "The Great Ridge" to "Lose Hill" and once reaching this point (2 hours later!) we stopped for a packed lunch and was stampeeded by several mountain sheep....they though my sandwiches particually tasty! lol

Once refreshed and fed...we did and about turn and walked the route in the opposite direction which turned out to be more of a challenge than the other way!....What goes up must come down and visa verca...towards the end of the return to "Mam Tor" the steep rocky incline was very deceptive and just when you thought you'd reached the summit....Oh No!!! there's even more UPHILL!!...The muscles were now beginning to strain and the heat of the mid afternoon sunshine made the last mile even harder than anticipated...but WE DID IT!!!

Back to the campsite and the next challenge was the putting up of the accomodation for the evening....TENTS!!!...

Once errected @amanda allen made sure she had first dibs of a bedroom!..we then chilled out and played two games of rounders...which the boys won on both occasions :-( Bah!!!

We then had a few quizzes set by the lovely @lara holt and Mr @Paul Smalley which whiled the night away....

Who can tell us when 2G was launched!!?? or infact when the first mobile phone call was made!!??

We all hit the sleeping bags around 21:30....shattered wasn't a word that covered how most of us felt, we had a mixed night of sleep, it was blooming freezing to say the least!

Breakfast eaten tents taken down....home we head!

On Tuesday 4th September Area 14 will become...for one day only

The "Mile Hike Club"

"Area 14 - Tuff Nuts" are raising money for "Think Big" by completing an 8 hour hike in the beautiful Peak District.

To complete this task we will down the tools of the mobile phone industry for the day and don our walking gear and take to the hills of Derbyshire....We will hike for 8 hours to raise monies for the worthwhile charity of "NYA" as part of the "Think Big's 3 months of fun" challenge.

At the end of the day we will camp out and Amanda (our Area Leader) will cook breakfast for the troops the following morning! (That's got to be worth a pound of anyone's money!)

This will be an exhilarating challenge for Area 14 Store Leaders, who have varied fitness levels!
